The Squid Gallery Original Watercolors
|
|
|
These watercolors are original paintings based on photos taken of my current pets, Bubbles, Mango and Peaches. I use photographs as my visual references, since you can't get a cat to stay still for very long - especially the Abyssinians!
I have set up the photo opposite the painting to show how it influenced the completed piece.

I took some liberty here with Mango's eye color.
The emerald eyes and green background make him look like a little jungle cat.

Miss Bubbles is shown relaxing on the sofa - which I have deliberately changed the color of to pink stripes.
When Bubbles was a tiny kitten someone asked why I had gotten a cat the same color as my furniture, possibly implying that an unwitting guest might sit down upon her. Well I have news for them - Bubbles never hangs out with my guests!
This off-handed comment may have scarred her for life. She is a shy, sweet girl and takes her time getting to know people. I'm sure if the person who made that remark ever shows up, she'll point him out to me.
