I used Illustrator to convert a client's CAD files to shaded and color rendered objects of a bus shelter and bench that are made of steel and painted green.
These were extremely complex files since CAD created only a single line for the objects on the left. To make them into complete shapes that could be filled with colors and gradients, many paths had to be duplicated and joined.
AutoCAD generated an incredible number of layers in Illustrator. The Layers palette was the key to organizing all these numerous elements.
The nice thing is that all the elements came across perfectly from the CAD file with the scale and dimensions intact. Illustrator made it easy to create more realistic representations of these objects.

The new 3D capabilities of Illustrator make package design a snap.
I first did the artwork layout for the DVD cover and spine. These two layouts were added as separate items to the Symbols palette.
Then using a 3D Extrude & Bevel function I took a simple rectangular shape and made it into the rotated DVD case.
The last part was to map the artwork onto the three the surfaces: top, side and front, which utilized the designs stored in the Symbols palette.
Once the package was completed a nice gradient background was added to make it a look like a professionally photographed product.
The 3D function also has a Revolve capability which is great for creating spheres or rounded objects and packages.

The wife of the owner of a new company liked a pin she had of a gecko on a branch.
Using the Pen Tool I traced around the gecko on the photo of her brooch to create the logo. A Scatter Brush was used to make the little bumps on the skin of the gecko and be able to control their size and position along its body.

I work with many Quark users to easily make the transition to InDesign. Once they do, InDesign enables them to enjoy working with transparency directly in the application, using native file formats from the other Adobe applications and effortlessly making tables and great looking typography.

Whether its eliminating paper - faxes, inter-office memos, etc., combining pages from a variety of different software programs into a single document that anyone can open, creating electronic forms, doing multi-media presentations or collaborating with electronic mark-up and review Acrobat has many ways to improve your productivity.
